How to Care for Your Smile During Invisalign Treatment
17 November,2020Do you desire a straighter smile but want an alternative to traditional braces? Invisalign could be the right orthodontic treatment for you. But even if you’re eligible for this treatment, it’s importanttoproperly take care of your teeth to achieve the desired results. Dental on Clarendon recommends the following tips to follow during Invisalign treatment.
Brush and Floss After Eating
One of best things about Invisalign treatment is that patients can eat and drink whatever they want by simply taking out their clear aligner trays. However, it’s highly recommended that you brush and floss your teeth before you put your aligners back in your mouth. Not doing so can cause bacteria and plaque to build up, which may lead to decay or gum disease.
Sanitise Your Aligner Tray
Thoroughly scrub your aligner tray with a toothbrush and toothpaste before you put it back in your mouth. Soak the aligner tray in mouth rinse or dissolved antibacterial soap, and rinse it before putting it back in. This will prevent your tray from introducing odour-causing bacteria or other types of unwanted residue into your mouth.
Change your Aligners on Schedule
Invisalign aligners must be swapped as indicated by the schedule your dentist gives you. If this schedule isn’t followed, the results of your treatment may become hindered or delayed. You can use the calendar app on your mobile phone to remind you when you need to change the current aligner being used.
Adhere to the Aligner Order
The Invisalign aligners you’re given will be labelled to indicate what order they should be used in. Using your aligners in the wrong order or skipping using an aligner altogether can cause serious issues. If you’re unsure which aligner you should use next, contact your dentist who can tell you which order you should be following.
